TV baker creates a cake of a man in a hospital bed with his limbs chopped into pieces

A TV baker has left fans doing a double-take after creating a very realistic cake of British rapper Slowthai lying in a hospital bed with his limbs chopped into pieces.

A set of unsettling images shared on Instagram by Ben Cullen, who starred in Channel 4's Extreme Cake Makers, seemingly show the British musician, 26, relaxing in the hospital bed, grinning - but with his body parts in several segments.

But it is not as alarming as it might seem - as the supposed 'limbs' are actually made out of four separate vanilla sponges, held together with chocolate ganache.

The photos show the cake-version of the NME award-winning rapper's legs cut into several pieces, revealing the sponge inside, with people's hands reaching in to grab pieces of the tasty treat.

Tattooist turned culinary artist, Ben, 30, who lives in Chester and also goes by the name The Bake King, created the life-like cake to be used on the set of Slowthai's music video for his 2020 single 'Feel Away'.

The cakes took around a week to complete, and were decorated from the outside to look completely life-like - even covered with 'tattoos'.

Lying on the bed beside the cake is the knife used to cut up the slices, as well as an empty champagne flute.

Sharing the photos on his Instagram page, where he has almost 300,000 followers, Ben wrote: 'When I turned Slowthai into CAKE! All his body parts were made from vanilla cake and chocolate ganache with sugarpaste details.'

Ben told Metro.co.uk: 'Lots of the detail took a long time, like hand painting the tattoos on the body parts and even hand painting individual hairs onto the arms and legs.'

Followers who spotted the photographs of the impressive cake on social media appeared to be suitably convinced - and alarmed - by them.

One fan commented: 'This is fantastic and creepy at the same time,' another wrote: 'I'm not sure how I feel about this.'

A third admitted: 'My mum doesn't believe that is cake so good job,' while a fourth added: 'Brilliant, if unsettling.'

Ben who has been baking since 2015 has baked cakes for celebrities including Leigh-Anne Pinnock and Megan McKenna.

The baker's incredible creations range from cakes made to look like food, such as an incredibly realistic sausage sandwich, to celebrity likenesses and life-size figures.
