Tottenham's Covid outbreak 'has become even WORSE' with Brighton clash at risk of being postponed

Tottenham's clash against Brighton on Sunday is at risk of being postponed after their Covid outbreak reportedly escalated.

Spurs were hit with a bombshell that seven players had tested positive for the virus after taking a lateral flow, with the squad awaiting the results of a PCR test to confirm their worst fears.

But now the Evening Standard report the situation was worsened with more positive cases - and now Spurs are set to request that their Premier League away trip to Brighton on Sunday is pushed back.

Tottenham's Covid outbreak has reportedly worsened and their Brighton clash is at risk

It is not yet known which players have been affected, but up to seven initially tested positive

Tottenham are already preparing to face Rennes in the UEFA Conference League on Thursday night, with the European body previously confirming the game will still go ahead, but their game at the AMEX looks doubtful.

The outbreak comes as a huge blow to Spurs boss Antonio Conte, whose side have won their last three successive games and are desperate to keep momentum going.

Spurs already have a game in hand to play after their clash at Burnley was called off due to adverse weather and Conte will be frustrated to miss out on another chance to close the gap to the top four - even without a number of top players.

While the Brighton game has huge question marks, their clash at Rennes is unlikely to be postponed due to UEFA's rules stipulating that ties are only placed into jeopardy 'if less than 13 players registered on the A list or no registered goalkeeper are available.'
