TALK OF THE TOWN: Princess Beatrice cancels her engagement party

Just as her friends feared, Prince Andrew’s shattered reputation is affecting his daughter Beatrice’s wedding plans.

Bea has had to change the date of her engagement party at the Chiltern Firehouse because of fears there will be too many photographers outside – looking for him.

As I revealed, correctly, last week, Beatrice has sent out invitations to friends for the do on December 18.

Princess Beatrice, pictured with Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi, had been planning to hold her engagement party at the Chiltern Firehouse later this month but was forced to cancel the high profile venue due to her father's PR problems

It was feared that Paparazzi photographers would wait outside the Chiltern Firehouse in a bid to photograph Prince Andrew, pictured

But the venue choice caused alarm among pals concerned it was far too high-profile given the sensitive time her family is going through.

Now it seems Beatrice and fiance Edo Mapelli Mozzi have taken note of their advice – not to mention my story – and changed the date so that Andrew can sneak in under the radar.

They really should hire me as an adviser!

PS: Edo’s ex, architect Dara Huang, has been wedding outfit shopping, picking up a bargain ‘pre-loved’ handbag and Chanel jacket from second-hand designer shop Worn in South Kensington.

It's  a remarkable case of generosity from beyond the grave. Although he died 28 years ago, Freddie Mercury still sends out Christmas hampers each year to loved ones.

I gather the late Queen frontman left instructions in his will for the Queen’s grocer, Fortnum & Mason, to ensure friends and godchildren receive a hamper every year until they die, paid for by his estate.

A spokesman for F&M said: ‘We do think it’s a lovely gesture which has been known to happen on occasion.

Shabby Justin's bizarre take on the Teddy Boy

Justin Bieber has now reached the ripe old age of 25 – the only problem is, no one seems to have told him.

The singer, who shot to fame aged just 13, was snapped, right, wandering the streets of LA in a pair of lurid pink pyjamas emblazoned with bizarre teddy bear images.

He twinned his juvenile look with a pair of slippers, what else? Come on Justin, everybody’s got to grow up sometime. Even in Hollywood.

Now that’s what I call a classic case of a parental gaffe!

Noel Gallagher’s ex, Meg Mathews, appeared to forget what their daughter looks like when she posted this glamorous snap, left, with the message: ‘Love you Nai Nai.’

Meg was referring to daughter Anais – the trouble is, the picture is of French artist and model Adèle Farine.

Anais, 19, curtly replied: ‘That’s not me mum!’

To be fair to mixed-up Meg, there is a passing resemblance…

Huge tennis fan the Duchess of Cambridge has been working on her game by having lessons at the exclusive Hurlingham Club in Fulham.

‘She’s really very good,’ a regular at the club tells me. ‘She comes down and trains with her tennis coach with her security looming in the background. Sometimes they fetch her stray balls.’

What excellent use of taxpayers’ money!

Crush of the week... Sultry starlet on the rise

Keep an eye out for sultry Kathleen Cranham, a 25-year-old who looks set to get her first significant break in the family ‘business’ – acting.

Kathleen,  daughter of Layer Cake star Kenneth Cranham, is poised to make it big in 2020 having auditioned for a role in the next Peaky Blinders. ]

It would be her first proper acting gig and a big step up from walk-on parts in soaps.

She’s been working part-time as a waitress – I predict she’ll be hanging up her apron soon!
