Succession's Kendall plots to take down media mogul father Logan in explosive new trailer

HBO's critically acclaimed dramedy Succession returned Friday with the first official trailer for its highly anticipated third season.

The trailer finds estranged heir Kendall Roy (Jeremy Strong) plotting to take over the media empire built by his father Logan Roy (Brian Cox).

The trailer arrives nearly two years after the season two finale due to delays on the upcoming season caused by the ongoing coronavirus pandemic.

Kendall only appears to have his assistant and his cousin Greg (Nicholas Braun) supporting him in the trailer's opening scene.

The one-time heir learns from his cousin that he's currently the number one trending topic on Twitter, 'ahead of tater tots.'

He adds that the Pope is even following now, though it turns out to be a fake account.

But even as Kendall's plotting a way to earn over shareholders' trust, Logan is assembling the rest of Kendall's siblings in an attempt to destroy him.

'My family have disappeared,' he bemoans in voiceover. 'I need to know where everyone is and what everyone's think!'

Siobhan 'Shiv' Roy (Sarah Snook), Logan's only daughter, shows that she's willing to play both sides in hopes of picking up the pieces after Kendall and Logan go to war.

'There he is, the little man who started this big war,' she says, addressing Kendall.

The two sparred in the previous season over who would succeed Logan, though her ambitions likely destroyed her chances at a smooth transition.

'Right now, I'm the real you,' Kendall says cryptically during what appears to be a secret meeting.

'You sound deranged,' she shoots back, though Kendall only gives off a devious smile in return.
