Student, 19, who won haul of Boohoo clothes in competition claims her prizes left her with rashes

A student who won as haul  of clothes in a competition from fast fashion retailer Boohoo has claimed her face and body were left covered in painful, itchy rashes and 'bites' after wearing her prizes.

Sophie Gorringe, 19, from Suffolk, won an online competition which included free clothes.

The package arrived on 24th February and two days later she tried on the garments and see how they fit.

But within a few hour of wearing her winnings, Sophie, a full-time student at the University of Chichester, began to feel slightly itchy.

Within a few hour of wearing her winnings, Sophie, a full-time student at the University of Chichester, began to feel slightly itchy. She is pictured after wearing the cltohes

Initially she thought nothing of it, but woke up in the middle of the night on 27th  when the itching sensation became much worse and she couldn't help but scratch.

The following morning, Sophie was horrified to discover large painful rashes and 'bites' on her legs and arms.

The rash continued to spread and by March 1 it had spread to her face, showing up red against her skin and causing a lot of 'discomfort and pain'.

Sophie has since gone to her GP and was administered antihistamine to calm her skin for the time being.

She claimed the rash and bites appeared only after she tried the Boohoo clothes on - and she is still suffering from itching almost a week after wearing the garments.

'I won a competition on their Twitter which is the only reason I decided to order from there, I had no previous problems at all but when this order came, this was when it all began.

'The itching and pain happened only after I tried Boohoo clothes on and wore them for some time,' Sophie said.

Sophie says Boohoo clothes are 'nice' but she's disappointed they haven't taken her concerns seriously

'This happened from Friday evening up until now and is still present.

'I am struggling to not scratch my skin; I have to try and force myself not to but sometimes I have to as I can't control it otherwise.

'It is painful and horrible and I just can't believe this has happened

'Boohoo's clothing is really nice, it's just such a disappointment and shame this has happened.

Sophie claimed the rash and bites appeared only after she tried the Boohoo clothes on - and she is still suffering from itching almost a week after wearing the garments.

'I have spoken to the doctors who advised me to take an anti-histamine for the time being but if it continues to get worse, I will have to call them and explain how it's got progressively worse.'

Sophie has since complained to Boohoo about the issue and they offered to pay her the value of the items if she returned them.

However, Sophie is disappointed that Boohoo did not take into account her adverse skin reaction and treat the matter seriously.

Sophie has since complained to Boohoo about the issue and they offered to pay her the value of the items if she returned them.

'They said they would only give me a full refund if the clothes are returned but I don't even want a refund, I don't want to order off their website ever again,' Sophie said.

'I want something to be done about this as this, and them to realise just how serious this is and how my skin is affected by it.

'No customer should have to deal with this at all, I'm really disappointed as they are completely disregarding this and I feel as if they are not taking into consideration the photos and videos that I've sent to them.

'I am severely disappointed with Boohoo overall as I feel they have simply brushed this off and are not taking this as seriously as they should.

Sophie said Boohoo are 'simply not taking it as seriously as they should, and that she won't order from Boohoo again

'They have no worry or concern in my opinion that their products have made my face, my arms, my legs and my chest appear out in rashes and several bites progressively getting worse as the days go on.

'I feel that I need this issue to be raised higher for them to take it more seriously, I hope.

'I just really have no words, to be honest as I have had no issues with them at all in the past and would not have expected this to happen.

'I have seen allegations go out about them and their parcels being infested and people finding bugs in there but simply they are not taking this seriously enough as they should.'

Boohoo has been contacted for comment.
