Police called to hotel room of Gable Tostee, who was found not guilty of killing a Tinder date

Tinder playboy Gable Tostee was in a hotel room with a woman threatening to jump from the 10th-floor - years after he was found not guilty of killing a date who fell from his apartment balcony.

Tostee, who now goes by Eric Thomas, was acquitted of both murder and manslaughter after his Tinder date Warriena Wright plummeted to her death from his 14th-storey Gold Coast apartment in 2014.

He found himself in another high-rise drama in the early hours of Wednesday morning, with police called to the Legends Hotel in Surfers Paradise at about 4.30am, The Courier-Mail reported.

Police sources told the paper Tostee was with a woman and her 12-year-old daughter, who was forced to call emergency services after her mother threatened to jump from the building.

Tostee was reportedly attempting to stop the woman, who was locked in the hotel bathroom when paramedics and police arrived.

The woman was then taken to hospital for a mental health assessment.

A senior police officer said there was no suggestion Tostee had done anything wrong.

'He just happened to be present when the incident occurred,' they said.

No charges have been laid.

In February 2019, police were called to Tostee's home in Carrara following a disturbance.

A woman was taken to hospital for a mental health assessment after he alleged she was 'going off' and he had been assaulted.

There were no charges laid over that incident.

Ms Wright, a 26-year-old from New Zealand, plunged to her death from Tostee's 14th storey Surfer's Paradise apartment on August 8, 2014.

Tostee was committed to stand trial but was acquitted of murder, manslaughter and any wrongdoing after harrowing three-hour audio footage was heard in court in 2016.

Daily Mail Australia has contacted Tostee for comment.
