Pictured: A quintessentially English town twinkles in the snow

Twinkly lights and snow create a scene every Hollywood film producer or Christmas card maker would envy.

The magical picture-postcard scene of Wirksworth in rural Derbyshire, captured by drone just after dark on Monday, melted away overnight as temperatures rose, but may return again later this week as more snow is forecast for the area.

The snowfall in the Midlands was a result of Storm Arwen which battered Scootland and the North of England last week.

Arwen was given the Met Office's highest red level storm warning. Sadly, three men were killed by falling trees during the storm.
