People reveal things you only experienced if you had a 'crunchy childhood'

People have been shedding light on things people will only know if they had a 'crunchy childhood', leaving many wondering if their childhood was the same.

The amusing TikTok and Twitter trend sees people sharing things people will only remember if they had a 'crunchy' or 'granola' childhood, which refers to someone who grew up in the rural UK countryside in the early 2000s.

The slang term often refers to people who grew up middle class during this decade, particularly families with parents who are nature enthusiasts and tend to be politically left-leaning.

The bizarre term is thought to have stemmed from the Nature Valley crunchy bars, which were a popular snack to include in children's lunchboxes back in the 2000s.

If you grew up going on long treks through National Parks, watched CBBC instead of Disney channel and wore GAP hoodies and Crocs, then chances are you too had a crunchy childhood.

Explaining how to tell if someone had a crunchy childhood, Twitter user Charlotte said: 'You can tell if a childhood was crunchy if they're not phased by mud, they somewhat like the smell of cow s**t, the library is a legit exciting place and half their shoes consist of boots.

'More or less describing myself here.'

Izzy Schifano helpfully shared a 'crunchy' starter pack to Twitter, which included wearing GAP hoodies with the logo on the chest, owning Sylvanian Families, going on camping holidays and wearing wellington boots.

Taking to TikTok, floods of users were quick to share their own 'crunchy' childhood experiences from their own point of view, admitting the things that they did that made their lives 'granola'.
