Police launched the investigation after being called to the address 6,10am on Saturday after reports of 'concern for a man'.

A man in his 40s was found dead at the scene. His death is currently being treated as unexplained.

A police cordon was last night in place and officers are appealing for witnesses to come forward.

Plympton is a quiet suburb of Plymouth and is famous for having the remains of an 11th century motte-and-bailey castle.

It was an important trading centre for locally mined tin and previously was a seaport, until its river, the River Plym became increasingly silted.

The port then moved six miles down the river to Plymouth.
