Passengers are evacuated from Manchester Airport's Terminal Two after reports of suspicious package 

Passengers and staff have been evacuated from Manchester Airport after a suspicious package was reported.  

A witness told the Manchester Evening News his sister and her family were moved from one end of Terminal Two to the other.

But he said the atmosphere was 'calm', and his family were moved away from the shops and duty free towards the gate area.

Another traveller said passengers and staff were evacuated from the airport's Terminal Two, but no information had been given about the cause.

A Manchester Airport spokesman said: 'Following a report of a suspicious package in Terminal Two, a controlled evacuation is taking place as per standard procedure. 

'We are in close contact with Greater Manchester Police, who are managing the response, and will provide an update on the situation as soon as possible.'
