Mum shares her 'genius' meal prepping hack that saves her HOURS during the week

A woman has shared her 'genius' meal prepping hack for saving time during the week, and she promises it'll shave hours off your cooking time in the kitchen.

The Australian woman, called Kirsty, shared her shortcut on Facebook, where she revealed she spends 15 minutes in the kitchen 'chopping up vegetables' after she does the grocery shopping.

'I simply chop up all the veg I need for the meals I have on my meal plan, and put them into zip-lock bags which go straight into the freezer,' Kirsty posted.

Kirsty's meals on this particular occasion included the veg for chicken laksa, chow mein, spaghetti, carbonara and a different vegetable spaghetti meal.

'Then, all I need to do is a quick defrost, and put them straight into the frying pan. So convenient for those weekday meals!'

Thousands who saw the simple meal prepping tip were impressed with it, and heralded the tip a 'game-changer' for busy working parents.

'This is such a great idea. I do this for my smoothies and now I'm going to do it for my meals too!' one person commented.

'This is a top idea, and so organised,' another added.

Others said they have tried it with limited success, as the vegetables tend to go 'mushy' or 'soggy' once they have been frozen.

This isn't the first storage method that has wowed the internet, with a fellow Australian mother previously sharing her 'game-changing' mince storage hack.

Ellen, from Wagga Wagga in south-west New South Wales, said she and her family freeze mince and ground beef in zip-lock bags after buying it in bulk when it is on special offer.
