Mother falls victim to bizarre TikTok 'beaning' prank

A mum has fallen victim to the 'absolutely awful' prank known as 'beaning' in which her house was smeared with food.

Her house in Didsbury, Manchester, was smeared with baked beans, spaghetti hoops and chopped tomatoes.

It is a new bizarre trend that took off on social video sharing app Tik Tok.

Initially the mum, who asked to remain anonymous, thought she'd been targeted by a burglary trick where items of food are smeared on doorsteps to test if people are on holiday.

Police are said to be investigating the incident.

'My front door and porch were smeared with baked beans, spaghetti hoops, and chopped tomatoes last week, it was just horrific,' she said, speaking to the M.E.N.

'Bizarrely they also left camping stools.

'It made me feel absolutely awful. Me and my daughter were quite

scared because we thought it was one of those burglary tricks.

'I had to ask my neighbours to help me clean up the mess because I couldn't even step outside my front door.'

The 'beaning' prank involves youngsters smearing baked beans onto people's driveways, doors and cars and filming it.

'During the course of the afternoon neighbours started giving me more information about people running off my porch laughing so I thought it probably wasn't a burglary trick,' the mum said.

'We got the CCTV footage and it turns out it was a group of teenagers who had been at a party down the road and it was a prank.

'Initially I was scared but then the anger set in.'

Numerous videos have been posted on social media with the hashtag beanbanditz.

The messy craze, which is also potentially harmful to dogs, prompted one local police force to issue a warning to retailers and parents.

Shops have been urged to look out for children buying large quantities of the tinned goods, while parents are being encouraged to check their cupboards.
