Melbourne boy allegedly stabbed after being approached by 10 youths while riding scooter in Carlton

A teenage boy has been rushed to hospital after he was allegedly stabbed in a Melbourne street.

The 15-year-old was riding a scooter along Cardigan Street in Carlton when police believe he was approached by a group of up to 10 youths.

Emergency services raced to the scene, with the boy taken to hospital where he remains in a stable condition.

'A man was arrested nearby, but he has been exonerated and released,' Victoria Police said in a statement.  

Melbourne Crime Investigation Unit detectives are continuing to investigate the incident.
