Man is covered in snow after trying to clear balcony with a broom handle

This is the hilarious moment a man trying to nudge snow off his balcony got more than he bargained for when he ended up covered in the white stuff.

Armed with just a broomstick, the young man pokes around at his metal sheet roof until it predictably collapses on top of him.

The footage was recorded in the town of Lytkarino, south east of Russian capital Moscow after having snowfall last week.

This is the hilarious moment a man trying to nudge snow off his balcony in Lytkarino, Russia got more than he bargained for when he ended up covered in the white stuff.

In the clip, the young man is filmed by friends as he inspects his balcony's roof that is starting to bend inwards from the weight of the snow.

Using a broom handle, he prods the flimsy structure as he friends laugh nervously behind him.

He decides to give it a harder poke, but instantly regrets it when the entire roof collapses on to him, covering him and his home in snow.

Temperatures in the small town had plunged to -22C the night before with several bouts of snow forecast as Russia's winter spell continues.

Nearby Moscow faced what some described as a 'snow apocalypse' in early February, with 22 inches of the white stuff being recorded on park benches overnight.

The single day record was 75 per cent of the city's average monthly total, and caused more than 100 flights to be cancelled across the three main airports.

Last year Moscow experienced its warmest winter in nearly 200 years.
