Since featuring on Grand Designs more than 10 years ago, the property has undergone an extensive renovation

Since featuring on Grand Designs more than 10 years ago, the property has undergone an extensive renovation, which transformed the property from a magnificent home to a beautiful guest house.

Its previous owner, architect Robert Gaukroger, built Dome House in 2010 after buying a plot of land from his neighbour, Jane Moore.

But, the building was abandoned and left in a state of disrepair after a dispute which saw Mr Gaukroger owe Ms Moore £55,000 in legal fees.

The dispute claimed that Dome House was built over a piece of land that Ms Moore still owned.

With lockdown restrictions lifting, the Dome House could be the perfect getaway for those looking for a staycation in the UK

After being left to fall into a state of disrepair, the property has been completely refurbished to a high standard

The beautiful stain glassed windows are a feature throughout the property, and make for stunning pictures at night

The Dome House can sleep up to 10 people and has attention to detail throughout, carrying themes from room to room

Now owned and operated by Phil and Joyce McGuire, a one night stay will cost anywhere up from £209 per night

In addition, Mr Gaukroger is said to have not informed Ms Moore about his plans to use the property as a B&B, and removed the house from booking sites as he tried to sell it on in order to pay back the £600,000 loan he owed.

Ms Moore also claims she was left with a £10,000 repair bill after the front gate to the entrance of her property was damaged by builders.

Now owned and operated by husband and wife Phil and Joyce McGuire, a one night stay at the beautiful property will cost anywhere up from £209 per night.

A three night romantic getaway for two couples could cost £313 each.

A private kitchen area comes complete with a dining table with large windows showcasing the beautiful scenery

The property comes complete with a private apartment, boasting its own kitchen and comfortable and plush living space

Attention to detail is found throughout the property, which has been transformed since its days on TV show Grand Design

Up until 2016, the property was in a state of disrepair, but has now been fully kitted out with modern features

The mansion has played host to a number of celebrities, including a soap star and an ex-FA cup manager

'Dome House is an exclusive and luxurious boutique guest house. The one-of-a-kind design is an iconic feature in the hills of Bowness and offers spectacular views over Windermere,' the listing reads.

'Featured on Channel 4's Grand Designs, Dome House is a unique experience in an incredible setting.

'Starting life as an architect's dream of building a state of the art eco-house, Dome House was a futuristic masterpiece of design. Dome House welcomes guests looking for something unique in the Lake District.'
