Height of stupidity! Idiots pose for a photo at top of 150ft Dorset cliffs

A couple were spotted on the edge of West Bay Cliff, despite 'stay away' warnings following a major cliffside only weeks ago.

The couple were photographed on the edge of the 150ft cliffs along the Dorset coastline, which as recently as April 17 saw a dramatic landslide

Days before that on April 13, further along the Jurassic Coast in Seatown, a 4,000-ton rockfall, described as the biggest in 60 years, gave way from the sandstone cliff causing boulders the size of cars to plummet near Seatown in Dorset.

At the foot of the cliff are people walking along the beach, including families and small children

The couple were spotted on Sunday, May 9, edging towards the cliff edges, seemingly unaware of the danger.

Warning signs were all around the area telling people not to approach the edge.

The reason why the coastline is so prone to landslides is because of the structure of the cliffs.

Sandy rock sits on top of clay and as erosion and weather wear them away they become unstable.

Geologist Jodi Brewin told ITV News: 'This is an active coastline, slips happen all the time.

Dorset Council said: 'Landslips can happen at any time, and without warning.

'A selfie is not worth a life.'

West Bay was used as a location for the ITV series Broadchurch starring David Tennant and Olivia Coleman.

The location was chosen because of the dramatic cliffs and scenary.
