One tweeted: 'Brilliant, exactly what I do.' Another posted: '@MarieKondo by any chance?'

And one woman declared Shephard her 'dream man' based on his excellent housekeeping skills.

Viewers marveled at his neatly kept drawers, saying they were 'brilliant' and 'well organised'

Meanwhile one similarly-minded viewer shared his tip for keeping drawers in ship-shape, tweeting: 'I use the Toilet roll tube in my drawer to put my socks in so they all stand upright and tidy. No loose socks this way.'

However others were put-off by the level of tidiness. One tweeted: 'I couldn't live with that, it denotes that everything is orderly and tidy and that he goes around ensuring it is.'

Speaking about the habit, Shephard explained it makes it easier to get ready in the morning.

'You've just got to be organised, he said. 'First thing in the morning, you want to grab a pair of pants, you want to grab a pair of socks and you want to get away.'

Asked whether his wife Annie was behind the organisation, Shephard insisted it is him and that he keeps the 'hanging space organised too'.
