Donald Glover says TV and films are 'boring' because people are 'afraid of getting cancelled'

Donald Glover has claimed that people are creating 'boring' and less 'experimental' television and films because they are 'afraid of getting cancelled'.

The 37-year-old rapper, who goes by the name Childish Gambino, returned to Twitter after an extended break Tuesday to take aim at 'cancel culture' in the entertainment industry.

Glover said he had noticed social media discussions from people who were 'tired' of 'reviewing boring stuff (tv & film)' and claimed the fault lies with creators being scared of being 'canceled'.

'saw people on here havin a discussion about how tired they were of reviewing boring stuff (tv & film),' Glover began in the first in a series of tweets.

'we're getting boring stuff and not even experimental mistakes(?) because people are afraid of getting cancelled'.

He added in a follow-up tweet: 'so they feel like they can only experiment w/ aesthetic. (also because some of em know theyre not that good)'.

Glover's tweets sparked debate on social media with several fans agreeing that 'PC culture' is ruining creativity in movies and TV shows.

'The PC culture has really put a damper on creative work,' one person tweeted.

Another person agreed: 'Honestly, it feels like the art in entertainment is getting limited.

'Take a painting for instance, but instead of drawing what you want, you have to draw this perfectly. And if you don't, don't think about coming back for a second painting.'

'network doesnt want to be 'cancelled' so they will 'cancel' shows/LIMIT creative process and play it safe because of 'cancel' culture,' wrote another.

One Twitter user blasted: 'b**ching about everything and making everything a issue. participation trophy demographic runnin public opinion. networks dfw controversy.'

'(He's talking about movies/tv shows being cancelled but everyone's brains are so poisoned by twitter they think he's talking about cancel culture and getting mad),' one person wrote.

'he's talking about tv shows being cancelled, not people,' chimed in another.

'pretty sure he means TV shows being cancelled bro,' another person agreed.

This tweet immediately highlighted how fake woke so much of Twitter is. The man tweets about tv show cancellation because executives don't want to go outside the box and yall busted out your torches and pitchforks over cancel culture,' they wrote.

'Which is irrelevant to this tweet.'

Before Tuesday, Glover hadn't posted anything on Twitter since November.
