Delta passenger was 'breastfeeding her CAT mid-flight and refused to stop'

A female passenger on a recent Delta Airlines flight stunned her fellow travelers and cabin crew when she was reportedly observed breastfeeding her pet cat and the woman refused to stop when asked by a flight attendant.

The bizarre incident was said to have taken place on a recent Delta Flight 1360 from Syracuse, New York, to Atlanta, Georgia.

The tale of the purportedly unhinged feline lover became public knowledge after a screenshot went viral on social media, showing a message that was transmitted by a Delta crew member to colleagues on the ground in Atlanta, summoning assistance.

According to the message, which was sent through the Aircraft Communications Addressing and Reporting System (ACARS) and was first reported on by Newsweek, a passenger in seat 13A 'is breastfeeding a cat and will not put cat back in its carrier when [flight attendant] requested.'

Flight attendant Ainsley Elizabeth posted more details to TikTok on November 13.

'This woman had one of those, like, hairless cats swaddled up in a blanket so it looked like a baby,'  she recounted. 'Her shirt was up and she was trying to get the cat to latch and she wouldn't put the cat back in the carrier. And the cat was screaming for its life.'

It is unclear what happened to the 'cat mom' after the plane touched down in Atlanta, but Elizabeth claimed in a November 2 TikTok video that security had to get involved.

The Delta employee who sent the message in the course of the two-hour flight requested that Delta's Red Coat team meet the uncooperative pet owner on the ground upon landing.

The airline's website describes its Red Coats as 'elite airport customer service experts, identifiable by their bright red coats. They are specially trained to handle on-the-stop customer issues.'

DailyMail.com on Thursday reached out to Delta seeking comment on the incident and was awaiting a reply.

According to the airline's website, Delta 'fully supports a woman's right to breastfeed on board Delta and Delta connection aircraft and in Delta facilities.'

it is unlikely that the airline's pro-lactation stance extends to human passengers nursing animals.

The airline allows small dogs, cats and household birds to travel in the cabin for a fee, but they must be kept in a pet carrier that fits under the seat.
