Cheeky cat Mei Mei 'fights' with his owner over electric heater by pushing the fan to face him

Cats love to stay warm, and this moggie in China enjoys it so much he refuses to share a heater with his owner.

The one-year-old feline named Mei Mei was caught on camera sneakily pushing the electric radiator towards him after his owner, Ms Wang, turned it on to warm herself.

Ms Wang, who captured the scene, told MailOnline that she was amused to watch her cheeky pet trying to fight with her to get closer to the heater.

Ms Wang, Mei Mei's owner who captured the scene at her home in Chongqing, told MailOnline that she was amused to watch her cheeky pet trying to fight with her to get closer to the heater

The amusing moment occurred earlier this month when the cat owner noticed her electric heater kept tilting down while she was relaxing at her home in south-western Chinese city Chongqing.

Ms Wang told MailOnline: ‘I just kept seeing the heater fan drooping. At first, I thought it was because of a loose screw.

‘Then I spotted Mei Mei sneakily trying to fight with me over the radiator,’ the woman said.

In a 12-second clip, the cheeky moggie sitting next to the heater is seen reaching out his paw and slowly pushing the heater down to face towards him.

Ms Wang added that after the video, Mei Mei repeated the motion several times, seemingly refusing to share the warmth with her.

‘He really loves staying close to the heater,’ the owner said. ‘Ever since I bought it, he would not leave it alone and he always lies around there to stay warm.’

Pictures supplied by Ms Wang show Mei Mei in sheer bliss as he snuggled up next to his favourite heat source.

The naughty feline was named ‘Mei Mei’ or ‘Little Sister’ when Ms Wang adopted him as a kitten after thinking he was a female cat.

‘I adopted him when he was three months old. Neither I nor my friends had kept cats before, so we couldn’t tell the gender. We thought it was a female kitten.

‘Now I’m used to calling him that and the name stayed,’ Ms Wang said.

Mei Mei’s cheeky move also entertained netizens after the owner shared the footage on the Chinese TikTok-like Douyin.

One user joked: ‘This cat has turned into a human! He just wants to keep warm.’

Another cat owner wrote: ‘My cat does the exact same thing. It would even go to turn the heater on itself!’

Apparently, Mei Mei is not the only pet in China that loves to stay cosy.

A husky called Leo recently shot to fame after he was seen enjoying a Chinese-style massage from his owner’s grandmother.

The 18-second clip shows the pet appearing completely relaxed while being pampered with gentle knocks on its legs and back.
