BMW 3 series convertible gets stuck in mud before being swallowed by incoming tide

An unlucky driver who left their sports car parked by the sea returned to find it had rolled down a slipway before being swallowed by the tide.

Dog walkers and passersby noticed the £7,000 BMW stuck in the mud early this morning.

The silver convertible 3 series, complete with sporty bucket seats, was later covered by seawater in Southampton Water, Hampshire.

The car's stylish interior is now wrecked, with mud filling the foot wells and staining the red leather seats.
