Wednesday June 28, 2023

Mogadishu (HOL) - Somali President Hassan Sheikh Mohamed, along with several government officials and hundreds of residents of Mogadishu, performed the Eid al-Adha prayer at the Islamic Alliance Mosque in Mogadishu on Wednesday.

President Mohamed extended his congratulations and best wishes to the people of Somalia on the occasion of Eid al-Adha. He reiterated his government's commitment to fight against those who financially support al-Shabaab.

"Corruption is the primary obstacle hindering the nation's progress. Somalia aims to achieve a fully functioning government and self-sufficiency, ensuring a dignified life for all Somalis. It is foolish and inhumane to provide money to the Khawarij to carry out explosions that could harm the Somali people, including your relatives," Mohamud said after the prayer.

Prime Minister Barre congratulated the Somali people and Muslims worldwide, expressing his desire for their progress, peace, prosperity, and unity.

Former President Mohamed Abdullahi Farmaajo congratulated all Somalis and Muslims worldwide on the blessed occasion of Eid al-Adha, which holds great significance for our religion and rich culture.

Farmaajo encouraged helping loved ones and low-income families, emphasizing that it is one of the best ways to draw closer to Allah.
