PAGASA Says LPA & Habagat to Bring Scattered Rainshowers Over Parts of PH

The state weather bureau PAGASA reported that the low-pressure area and habagat will bring scattered rainshowers over some parts of the country.

On Tuesday (August 9, 2022), the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration released the latest weather update in the country. The low-pressure area and southwest monsoon will continue to affect the country’s weather condition.

PAGASA reported that the low-pressure area has been last spotted at 255 km Southeast of Hinatuan, Surigao del Sur. The Southwest Monsoon will be affecting the western section of Luzon.

The LPA will bring cloudy weather condition with scattered rainshowers and thunderstorms over Caraga and Davao Region. It has a slim chance of developing into a tropical depression.

“Base sa ating mga data at analysis, mananatiling mababa ang tsansa na maging bagyo pero magdadala ito ng pag-ulan sa bahagi ng Mindanao,” weather specialist Aldczar Aurelio said.

The habagat will bring similar weather condition over Ilocos Region, Abra, Benguet, Zambales, Bataan, Occidental Mindoro, and Palawan.

The Southwest Monsoon / Localized Thunderstorms are expected to bring partly cloudy to cloudy conditions with isolated rainshowers or thunderstorms over Apayao, Kalinga, Mt. Province, Ifugao, Aurora, Batanes, Cagayan, Isabela, Quirino and Nueva Vizcaya.

Metro Manila and the rest of the country will experience similar weather condition.

The weather agency has warned the residents in the affected area for possible flash floods or landslides due to moderate to at times heavy rains and severe thunderstorms.

PAGASA also monitors a tropical depression at 605 kilometers north northwest of Kalayaan Island, Palawan. It has maximum sustained winds of 55 kilometers per hour near the center and gustiness up to 70 kph.

Meanwhile, the coastal water condition over the western section of Luzon will be moderate to rough. The eastern section of Mindanao and the remaining parts of the archipelago will have slight to moderate surrounding sea conditions.
