TAGBILARAN CITY — A newborn baby boy was found in a toilet of the Jagna Public Market late Wednesday afternoon, according to local police.

Police Staff Sergeant Jonalyn Samon Llemit of the Women and Children Protection Desk of the Jagna Police Station said the baby was found at past 5 p.m. by Analiza Ortega, 28, who was cleaning the trash bins inside the toilet.

Ortega told police that one of the trash bins was heavy. When she checked it, she discovered a red eco-bag with blood stains.

“When she (Ortega) opened the eco-bag, she discovered an infant which was covered with fresh blood,” Llemit said.

They rushed the baby to the Teodoro B. Galagar District Hospital for treatment but the infant was declared dead on arrival.

“We believed the infant was dumped into the bin,” said Llemit whose team was checking all closed-circuit television footage in the area to help identify the culprit.
