There will be a Maid in Malacañang sequel
Maid in Malacañang Sequel – Director-writer Darryl Yap teased the character of Ninoy Aquino in the sequel of his controversial movie about the last 72 hours of the Marcoses in the Palace.
Even now that MiM is being shown in cinemas around the country, and soon in other countries, the movie is still being bashed including the members of the cast. However, amid the bashing and criticisms, Direk Darryl said in interviews that he is thankful for all the bashers of his movie because, since day one, they were the ones who promoted the movie for him.
Following the box-office success of the movie, the controversial director shared a portrait teasing the upcoming movie that he will do in connection with Maid in Malacañang. The portrait appeared to be the character of former Senator Benigno “Ninoy” Aquino Jr., the husband of former President Cory Aquino ad was known as the most prominent critic of former President Ferdinand Marcos.
In the caption of Direk Darryl Yap’s Facebook account, he simply wrote this caption: “#MoM” and “a wishful thinking.” “MoM” stands for “Martyr or Murderer.” The director-writer did not identify the actor who is in the portrait. However, based on the article in Manila Bulletin, Direk Darryl will reveal this once the actor will accept the offer to play the character of Ninoy Aquino.
Some netizens who commented on this post of the director teasing the Maid in Malacañang sequel said that it was actor-politician Herbert Bautista while some believed that it was seasoned actor Phillip Salvador. “Herbert Bautista bilang Ninoy Aquino,” a netizen commented. Another netizen had a different guess, “Looks like Philip. This is exciting!”
Direk Darryl Yap said previously that when he pitched MiM to Viva Films, it was actually intended to be a trilogy.
