Bb. Pilipinas International is Nicole Borromeo. But the crowd favorite during the coronation night is Herlene Nicole Budol, also known as Hipon Girl. She underwent major changes and transformation when she joined the pageant and it seems like her hard work has paid off.
She received special awards such as Manila Bulletin Readers’ Choice Award, Binibining Shein, JAG Queen, Binibining Pizza Hut 2022, Binibining Silka, Binibining Kumu, and Binibining World Balance. On top of that, she is also the pageant’s first runner-up which isn’t bad at all for a first-timer like her.
However, amid her training and everything, she lost one of the core reasons why she’s working hard. Her grandmother died. Her lola died amid her competition and she was there beside her when she took her last breath.
Recalling the last moments she had with her Lola has broken many hearts. In an interview with Toni Gonzaga, she revealed that losing her lola, the one who raised her since she was a baby, also caused her to lose interest to continue doing what she does. The death of her lola almost made her quit because she lost the reason why she did the pageant.
She draws strength from her grandparents and losing one of them made her lose the will to work hard because they are the very reasons why she works a lot. She wants to give them a better and more comfortable life. She wants to give them a house that they can call their own but sadly, her lola passed away before it all happened.
