A few weeks ago, Pres. Bongbong Marcos had his second bout against COVID-19. He contracted the disease a few days after he assumed office and he was in isolation for 7 days as per the protocol for fully-vaccinated and boosted individuals. He recovered fast. Based on a report on Inquirer, the 64-year-old Chief Executive recently received his 2nd booster shot under the “PinasLakas” vaccine campaign.

Palace Says President Bongbong Marcos Jr. Tests Positive For COVID-19 In Antigen Test

BONGBONG MARCOS JR.- Palace confirmed that President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. tested positive for COVID-19 in an antigen test.

The country continues to fight against the spread of coronavirus (COVID-19). Health authorities are encouraging Filipinos to get vaccinated against the virus.

The wearing of face masks and social distancing are protocols that are still required all over the country. Sadly, there are some people who do not wear a face mask for protection. New coronavirus cases in the country rose 60% to 7,398 in the week ending July 3.

Several famous people in different fields contracted the deadly virus. Based on a report from Inquirer, the Palace confirmed that President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. has tested positive for COVID-19.

This is his second bout with the disease. He contracted COVID-19 in 2020.

In a televised briefing on Friday, Press Secretary Trixie Cruz-Angeles said Bongbong Marcos Jr. won’t be able to attend his scheduled United States embassy event but will attend other meetings virtually.

Health Undersecretary Maria Rosario Vergeire said the Philippine leader will have to isolate himself for a week. Marcos’ schedule this week included a meeting with Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi and a Cabinet meeting. According to a report from Bloomberg, BBM was seen not wearing a mask in both events.

Cruz-Angeles said BBM “has a slight fever, but is otherwise OK.” She also said that those who had close contact with the president, including her and Executive Secretary Vic Rodriguez, have negative results via antigen test.
