A dog owner starved one of her pets so badly the animal looked like ‘a skeleton with skin draped over it,’ police say.

Samantha Bishop, 30, reportedly neglected the female dog to the point where her feet were covered in sores and blisters ‘likely from standing in her own feces and urine,’ investigators said.

They added that the pet – named Hope – weighed just 29 pounds – almost half the 45-50 pounds a healthy dog her age should weigh.

Hope’s ordeal was uncovered after Walton County Sheriff’s Office in Florida was tipped off about Bishop’s alleged abuse of Hope and another dog.

Animal control officers showed up at her home Tuesday, and while their was no sign of Bishop, they found two dogs locked in a pen ‘in extreme distress.’

The other dog was found lying on the concrete floor of its pen, covered in blood, feces and urine.

It later succumbed to its injuries, with Hope now being cared for by veterinarians, who say it is touch-and-go whether she will survive.

Bishop was later tracked down, arrested and charged with two felony counts of animal cruelty.

A Walton County Sheriff’s Office spokesman said Bishop denied the allegations she is facing.

It explained: ‘Bishop told investigators she fed and cared for the dogs every day.

‘The condition of the animals and their living conditions did not corroborate her statements.’

Bishop is now free on $5,000 bond, and has been banned from keeping animals ahead of her next court appearance.
