A WOMAN has died in a hit-and-run crash in South London.
The pedestrian, in her 20s, was pronounced dead at the scene after being struck by a car on Brixton Hill at around 9.45pm last night.
Police had earlier signalled for the vehicle to pull over but the driver sped off.
Scotland Yard said the car was not being chased at the time.
The car raced away from the scene of the crash and was later found abandoned nearby.
No arrests have been made and a manhunt has been launched.
The woman has not yet been formally identified and officers are currently working to trace her next of kin.
A Scotland Yard spokesman said: "The car sped off from police and was then involved in a collision with a pedestrian.

"The car did not stop at the scene.
"The car was found abandoned nearby and enquiries are ongoing to trace the occupants.
"A woman in her twenties died at the scene. Officers are in the process of informing all her next of kin."
