Will Smith is back in the gym - after vowing to shed some weight and ditch "midnight muffins."

The Hollywood star, 52, recently told his Instagram followers that he was in "the worst shape of his life" after "countless days grazing in the pantry" during the pandemic.

But now Will's determined to do something about it, shift the pounds and get fit again.

The Fresh Prince of Bel Air star shared a snap from his local gym, joking in the caption: "Back to square one. Lookin like a circle. Let's get it!!"

He added: "You can't see it, but there are hot pockets on strings all over this gym."

He had made headlines earlier this week as he shared a snap of himself in underwear and a jacket, the jacket unzipped to reveal the body beneath.

"I'm gonna be real wit yall," he wrote as fans applauded his candour, "I'm in the worst shape of my life."

Will found fame in the 90s through his music before famously making the leap to acting as a fictionalised version of himself in Fresh Prince.

He's gone from box office smash to box office smash since, many of his projects featuring his chiselled torso, including a topless workout scene in I Am Legend.

In another recent post, Will dramatically posed topless in an Instagram boomerang.

"This is the body that carried me through an entire pandemic and countless days grazing thru the pantry," he wrote.

"I love this body, but I wanna FEEL better. No more midnight muffins…this is it! Imma get in the BEST SHAPE OF MY LIFE!!!!! Teaming up with @YouTube to get my health & wellness back on track. Hope it works!"

The dad-of-three recently wrapped up work on King Richard, in which he plays Richard Williams, father to tennis pro sisters Venus and Serena.

Will's also signed on to do Bad Boys 4, reprising his role as Mike Lowrey after last year's Bad Boys For Life did well in critic circles.
