Who is Michaela Nelson and when did she go missing?

OHIO Army National Guard specialist, Michaela Nelson, was reported missing in October after she didn’t return to her unit in Dayton.

Her family says they believe she is still alive, and the search for her is ongoing.

Who is Michaela Nelson?

Michaela Nelson enlisted with the National Guard in September 2020 and is the eldest of five siblings.

The National Guard reported her missing on October 26, only a month after her mother died.

Her father hired Private Detective James Terry who said it is possible she reevaluated her priorities after her mother’s passing and decided to run but went into hiding.

It is possible she feared for the repercussions of not reporting to the military unit, but the Ohio National Guard issued a statement saying repercussions are their last concern. They just want Nelson found.

“Spc. Nelson’s health and safety are our priority, and our hope is she’s found safe as soon as possible,” the statement said.

“We will continue to be available to provide any assistance needed to her family and law enforcement.”

What do we know about her case?

In an interview with Fox News Digital, Terry said they do believe Nelson is still alive, and although her phone number is disconnected, her FaceTime still rings.

“She’s using some sort of phone,” he said. “She just doesn’t have her number on.”

Nelson was last known to be driving a dark gray 2016 Dodge Charger SXT and cameras last picked up her license plate number nearby her apartment.

However, her car is now missing, and investigators are looking for any information that might determine Nelson’s whereabouts.

Her cousin, Elise Miller told Fox News Digital that Nelson was spending time with a new group recently, and she said she recognized some of them to be professional athletes from where she lives in Indiana.

According to Lance Nelson, his daughter did previously have a restraining order against her ex-boyfriend, but it isn’t in effect anymore.

“We just have to believe she’s okay,” Lance Nelson said. “She’s just taking time away from us or have some sort of new life.”

Their number is 614-645-4545.

If anyone is hesitant to call the police, Private Detective Terry said they can call Gulf Coast Investigation.

Their number is 813-993-2242.
