Vigil is back on TV tonight for its final installment after six weeks of tense, underwater action on BBC One.

Last week we saw detective Amy Silva (Suranne Jones) trapped in a torpedo tube by traitor Matthew Doward (Lorne MacFadyen) in the closing moments of the penultimate episode.

The traumatic end saw viewers shocked by the scenes as water poured in, and Gogglebox stars were stunned, too.

It's been a long week waiting for the new episode to find out what happened to Amy, and thankfully the time is almost here.

Vigil episode six, the final in the series, will air tonight (September 26) on BBC One at 9pm. It will be available on iPlayer, too, after it has aired.

The terrifying ending of last week

The drama, which is from the makers of Line of Duty, Bodyguard and The Pembrokeshire Murders, has an all-star cast as well as Jones, including Patterson Joseph, Shaun Evans and Martin Compston- see more on the cast, here. The series has also been delivering shock after shock as Compston's character was murdered in the opening episode.

Filmed in Scotland, Vigil follows an investigation after a crew member is found dead onboard the Trident nuclear submarine HMS Vigil - only the sub is still in operation as the UK’s nuclear deterrent must remain unbroken.

Watch Vigil on BBC One, 9pm, tonight.
