What is Independence Day?
Independence Day is the date on which the Declaration of Independence was approved by the Continental Congress on July 4, 1776.
This was a letter sent to King George III Officially explained why the Continental Congress voted to declare independence from the British Empire.
A list of accusations against George III aimed at justifying the rebellion against Britain.
The main problem was taxation and lack of control over their operations, and this declaration marked the beginning of the Revolutionary War against Britain.
Recently, Independence Day is a national celebration in the United States, where loved ones often get together for barbecues, picnics, and parades.
Other typical activities include hot dog and watermelon eating competitions, baseball games, and fireworks displays.
Why is July 4th important in the United States?
The intention is to celebrate the American tradition of political freedom and the freedom the country is trying to symbolize and embody to this day.
The UK does not officially celebrate July 4th. This is clearly the day the United States decided to leave the empire.
However, the event is becoming more common as many Americans have moved here and many of us are happy for good reason at the party.
So if you see the American flag waving and hear Bruce Springsteen's "Bone in the America" cry, be sure to pray for Happy Force.
