West Ham vs Manchester United highlights and reaction

Manchester United made it nine wins on the bounce away from home in the Premier League as they came from behind to triumph at West Ham.

United trailed at half-time to Tomas Soucek's tap-in and Ole Gunnar Solskjaer made a double substitution at the pause, with Bruno Fernandes and Marcus Rashford coming on for Donny van de Beek and Edinson Cavani.

An injury to Anthony Martial meant United had to use their third and final substitution in the 62nd minute, as Juan Mata came on, and within 16 minutes of the Spaniard's introduction United led 3-1.

Paul Pogba, making his first start in a month, equalised from range before Mason Greenwood gave United the lead with a clinical finish inside the area.

Mata's pinpoint pass sent Rashford through on goal and he dinked the ball over the oncoming Lukasz Fabianski to wrap up all three points and move United into the top four.

Manchester United player ratings: Marcus Rashford and Bruno Fernandes good vs West Ham

Dean Henderson

Made an early save but was surrounded by incompetence in the feckless first-half. His goal led a charmed life at times. Good save from Aaron Cresswell. 7

Aaron Wan-Bissaka

So vulnerable so often and a recovery tackle on Jarrod Bowen could not detract from his poor performance at both ends. 5

Victor Lindelof

Uncomfortable against a physical figurehead yet again but had it easier in the second-half as United took control. 5

Harry Maguire

Clumsily allowed Sebastian Haller in at 1-0 but was reprieved. Much more himself in the second-half with Bruno Fernandes on the pitch. 6

No complaints about Greenwood's sensational finish.

Goal for United (Greenwood)

1-2.

Telles whips a lovely ball in and Greenwood takes it superbly.

A brilliant turn and superb finish.

What a goal.

VAR review

The goal stands after a lengthy VAR check.

The dispute was whether Henderson's pass had curled in and out of play.

With no way to confirm it, the goal is given.

GOAL for United (Pogba)

1-1.

Henderson's long ball find Fernandes.

He rolls it into the path of Pogba who strokes the ball home.

Superb goal.

Martial injury adds to questionable Solskjaer subs

Martial’s injury is pure bad luck but it only adds to the questionable changes Solskjaer made at half-time.

Cavani came off the bench to inspire a comeback a week ago, but was the man replaced here.

He was the only forward who was making any runs or offering an outlet in the first half and it seemed bizarre he was one of the two players replaced.

United change confirmed

Martial off, Mata on.

Martial to be replaced

The forward is moving gingerly and is expected to be replaced by Juan Mata.

Martial offside

Much better forward play from United.

Slick exchange from Martial and Fernandes but the Frenchman is flagged for offside.

United need to get Fernandes on the ball as much as possible.

United players have been shocking

It is a pity for United there is no five-sub rule because you could easily take five players off at half-time. Some do not fancy it in the cold and actually look intimidated by a collection of fans that would only fill a fifth of Rochdale’s ground.

The only reassuring thing for United is they have gone behind in their previous four away games and won them all. They were this bad at Brighton.

Excellent from Wan-Bissaka

West Ham have another clear cut chance as Bowen is through on goal.

Wan-Bissaka recovers magnificently to deny him.

Fabianski denies Martial

Finally some good play from United.

Martial and Telles combine and the Frenchman unleashes a fierce shot which is well saved by Fabianski.

Better.
