Newcastle fans have taken to Twitter to react to the emerging reports that they are set to engage in talks with Barcelona winger Ousmane Dembele ahead of his contract in Spain expiring next summer.
Foot Mercato have reported that the north east side will look to strike a deal with Dembele, who has eight months left on his deal, with a £15million annual salary being mentioned.
The Magpies have become football's latest financial powerhouse after Mike Ashley sold the club to a Saudi-led consortium earlier this month.
That now means that Newcastle will be shopping in a completely different market to the they had previously become accustomed to.
And the prospect of bringing one of Europe's exciting talents - one who has been unable to find his feet at a crumbling Barcelona - is something that has got Toon fans divided.
Dembele joined the La Liga giants in the summer of 2017 for a deal worth £135million after a sublime couple of seasons at Borussia Dortmund.
However, like plenty of his teammates past and present who made the move to Barcelona during their fall, he has struggled.
The recruitment at the Nou Camp saw them bring in plenty of high profile players - such as Philippe Coutinho and Antoine Griezmann - with no real philosophy as they begin to drift away from the heights they have become so accustomed too.
There is no doubting that the French winger would be a great addition for the Magpies, however, it is his track record with injuries that appears to be alarming supporters, with transfermarkt reporting that he has missed 96 Barcelona games through injury since he joined in 2017.
