Watch brilliantly awkward interview where racing host mistakes man for woman in clip that has become viral sensation

YOU just don't get any more awkward than this.

Top TV presenter Derek 'Tommo' Thompson is well known for his one-liners and the odd clanger.

But this moment he confused a man for a 'lovely woman' live on At The Races tops the lot.

The video clip from over ten years ago does the rounds on social media repeatedly.

It even made the Graham Norton show at one point.

Tommo, joined in the studio by a youthful-looking Mick Fitzgerald, introduces his colleague Bob Cooper who is set to conduct an interview at Hereford races.

'You've been joined by a beautiful lady!' quips Tommo.

'It's a man actually, Derek,' comes the deadpan response.

Those glorious few seconds of awkward silence afterwards are the cherry on top of this magnificent cake.

The poor interviewee then has to go on to answer the questions put to him by Cooper.

You really could have felt the tension had you not been in pieces laughing.

And it's not the first time Tommo has hit the headlines for his brilliantly but cringeworthy ways.

His TV advert for a hotel was arguably just as Partridge and there have been many other awakward moments live on air involving jockey's mums and 99 ice creams. We'll leave it there.
