This list was inspired by Trung Phan who posted on Twitter about. It's a thing. Museum of Failure,A traveling exhibition that showcases failed products to show that innovation requires taking risks.
Exhibits include the DeLorean (1981), a sports car whose doors open upwards, and the New His Cork (1985).
Here are 10 lesser known:
1. IKEA a.i.r. Inflatable furniture from the 1980s. The line he used for 10 years, although it leaked and required frequent pump refills.
2. TwitterPeek. $200 handheld device running Twitter only, launched in 2007-10.
3. Nintendo Power GloveIn 1989, he was one of the company's first forays into virtual reality. "However, hand motion technology later evolved into the highly successful Nintendo Wii controller."
4. Arch Deluxe. Released and discontinued in 2000. An expensive advertising campaign has failed.
5. Nike Magneto Sunglasses1995. With his arms out of his ears, they clicked into the magnets he had attached to his face.
6. Amstrad E-mailerLandline phone with his LCD screen for email, 2000. Recommended by John Peters and Rob Jackson.
7. Heinz Colored Ketchup.Green, Purple, Blue, Pink, 2000. The company did "wild food engineering to make the colors work," but went bankrupt six years later. Transport helicopter converts into mobile home, 1975. Nominated by Ken Wallace.
9. Crystal Pepsi. Clear soft drink launched in 1992 and discontinued the following year. Thank you Compound248.
10. Brexit Mug.This is a Great Story Bentham pottery mug has a hole that says 'Brexit' and was hand painted in 2019. Carved in the work, it highlights that Brexit won't work. It was a huge success, raising a lot of money for charity. Nominated by Ali Hughes and Edwin Hayward.
