Vanessa Bauer is said to be "upset" after Dancing On Ice bosses decided she wouldn't be allowed to return to the show.

The pro skater and celebrity partner Joe-Warren Plant had been isolating after a positive Covid test.

But according to reports the two fully expected to return and had even been rehearsing a new routing.

Friends of Vanessa's told The Sun she felt "betrayed" by both her bosses and colleagues, who are said to have complained about the plan.

She then received an early morning call on Friday telling her about the decision.

A friend told the publication: “Vanessa was absolutely devastated when she was told she wasn’t going back to Dancing On Ice. She was close to tears when she was explaining it.

“She was training with Joe at a rink on Friday morning to be ready for their return when they got the call."

The pair were forced to quit the skating show because of a positive Covid test.

They are not replaceable as Phillip Schofield recently warned the show was out of Dancing on Ice reserves for the first time ever.

Gutted Joe-Warren shared his disappointment at having to bow out of the competition after working so hard.

Joe-Warren Plant said in a statement: “Having tested positive for Covid this now means the end of the competition for Vanessa and I. I have loved every minute of being a part of Dancing On Ice and I am disappointed as I feel I had so much more to give and was working hard to perfect each performance.

"Thank you so much to Vanessa for being a fantastic teacher and although its been cut short, I've thoroughly enjoyed this experience. Thank you to all the crew who have been brilliant and especially thanks to the other cast members, they have been hugely supportive and I wish them all the very best.”

Vanessa was equally devastated when she announced she would no longer be performing on the ice.

However, the skater congratulated her partner for "growing every week" and hailed him as her hardest ever working partner.

Vanessa said: "Joe-Warren has been growing every week into such a talented skater and I'm so sad we won't be able to show more of the great routines we had planned.

"I am beyond proud and devastated, as we had so much more to show, he was the hardest working partner I’ve ever had."

An ITV Spokesperson added: "We can confirm that following positive Covid tests, Joe-Warren Plant and Vanessa Bauer have had to withdraw from this year's competition.

"They've been wonderful on the show this year and we thank them for all their dedication and beautiful performances."

Joe-Warren was the fifth celebrity forced to pull out of the competition.
