The driver of a van that was involved in a crash with a cyclist in Leyland has been arrested.

Police were called to the scene in the village of Midge Hall earlier today (February 28) to reports of a road traffic collision.

Officers said that a van driver had 'failed to negotiate' a left hand bend.

The motorist then collided 'head on' with a cyclist, with an emergency response issued to the scene.

Pictures from the scene show the front windscreen of the van smashed.

A police vehicle can be seen in attendance, along with officers.

The cyclist sustained minor injuries, say police.

Officers confirmed the van driver was arrested on suspicion of drug driving and due care offences.

A spokesperson for Lancs Road Police said: "T1 TacOps have been dealing with an RTC in Midge Hall where the driver of this van failed to negotiate a left hand bend, colliding head on with a cyclist.

"Unbelievably the rider sustained minor injuries.

"The van driver was arrested for drug driving and due care offences."
