Barnsley boss Valerien Ismael is now the front runner to land the vacant managerial job at West Bromwich Albion.

The Baggies were relegated from the Premier League last season and Sam Allardyce left his post at The Hawthorns.

That has left the club searching for a new manager and former Sheffield United boss Chris Wilder looked set to land the job initially.

The owners then went against that decision though, before talks with David Wagner collapsed this week.

Ex-PNE boss Alex Neil and former North End player Michael Appleton - manager of Lincoln City - have been linked with the job too.
