A popular American podcast host has provoked the wrath of royal fans after poking fun at Prince William and Kate Middleton’s "uninteresting" new YouTube channel.
In the latest episode of H3 After Dark, Ethan Klein (who runs the social commentary podcast with wife Hila) played a snippet of the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge's trailer for their audience.
Prince William and Kate’s first video appears to be a shot at connecting with a younger audience, but Klein says he "can’t get over how uninteresting the royalty is," later implying the Duke of Cambridge is old-fashioned.
The podcast went on to joke that they were able to get a "preview" of Kate and William’s future content before sharing a series of fake thumbnails for more videos, one of which includes a "oujia board" experience with the late Prince Philip.
Another heavily Photoshopped image depicted a furious Kate Middleton asking Prince William "who is she?" as he seems to gaze at a pretty "Queen of Hearts".
A second edited thumbnail showed Wills and Kate doing "taste test" of £500 beans on toast, which Klein jokingly said "he would watch" and is "right on point."
Another showed Kate edited to look as though she was sitting on the floor along with the words "I'm sorry," a reference to the infamous influencer apology videos uploaded by the likes of Trisha Paytas, Shane Dawson and James Charles.
Finally, the podcast gets to a ouija board meme which shows Prince William "contacting Prince Philip at 3am."
Klein laughs but then says: "Don’t you feel like it is a little too soon for that? It seems like a low blow!"
He adds, "that’s so inappropriate," before joking, "oh well, he needs the clicks, he’s got to grow his channel somehow."
Klein's audience appeared to lap up the wisecracks made at the expense of the royals, with one writing: "The ouija board of Prince Philip made me choke."
The antics continued by internet users over on the Cambridges' own YouTube channel, where some suggested Wills and Kate should do pranks on the Queen for their next video.
Others said the duo might want to think about filming a reaction video to Meghan Markle and Prince Harry’s Oprah interview.
Not everyone was in on the joke however, as fans angered by the suggestion said the couple would "never stoop that low."
"Leave them alone, Prince William has the entire future of the Windsors on his shoulders," a loyal commenter responded to one of the jokes.
"How can people dislike these two?" added another.
"They inspire and have so much compassion. Will be best King & Queen."
Representatives for the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge have been approached for comment.
