A US defense official has revealed that a drone strike against an ISIS-K operative in late August killed 10 civilians including seven children.

The victims from the August 29 strike were an aid worker, Zemari Ahmadi, and nine of his family members, the unnamed defense official told a CBS News reporter on Friday afternoon.

The deaths were determined by the US Central Command, according to the CBS News reporter.

General Mark Milley had described it as a ‘righteous strike’.

Ahmadi’s children ran out to the drive way of their home when he arrived. A US commander launched a Hellfire missile into the car, killing the family.

For weeks since the attack, the Pentagon disclosed only three civilian deaths.

The head of US Central Command, General Frank McKenzie, is set to announce the deaths of the 10 civilians with no disciplinary action expected, according to Fox News reporter Lucas Tomlinson.
