Traffic cops seized a Mercedes after spotting it speeding down the M62 at almost double the speed limit.

West Yorkshire Police's Roads Policing Unit apparently clocked the car at 136mph near to Huddersfield.

According to a post on the unit's official Twitter account, the driver from Bolton claimed that he was travelling to Bradford for a burger.

The driver allegedly told police that he was using third party insurance cover but checks showed that he was uninsured. He has now been reported.

On Wednesday (June 3), a spokesman tweeted: "Seized in Huddersfield for no insurance after caught travelling at 136 mph on the M62.
