UK weather warning: Britain to be drenched in thundery downpours with ONE INCH of rain

BBC Weather: Amber warning issued ahead of heavy rainfall

The Met Office says a shift in the position “of the jet stream” will see the start of a period of autumnal weather after temperatures reached highs of 25C (77F) this weekend. Temperatures across the country will be mild and moderate averaging between 16-19C (61-66F) on Monday, September 27 as low pressure dominates the UK weather system.

Nicola Maxey, Met Office spokesperson, also said a cold front will bring “potentially heavy rain”.

The forecasting service's latest precipitation charts reveal large parts of England turning red and yellow as rain batters the UK.

The Met Office has issued a yellow warning for rain in parts of Northern Scotland with forecasters warning it will be a dull and damp start to Monday with cloudy skies.

Ms Maxey added: “Hail and thunder is also a risk to the North and West, so Monday heralds a real change to autumnal-style weather.”
