UK Weather TODAY – First day of Autumn sees downpours across the country as Britain braces for Arctic blast

The Sun

BRITS are set to see a gloomy day with heavy rain in many parts as Autumn gets underway.

Wednesday will bring cloud and rain across much of England and Wales though there will be bright spells in the south-east, says the Met Office.

Temperatures are set to begin to plunge before falling to 14C by the weekend.

BBC meteorologist Susan Powell said: “By mid-week, it will be much cooler, much windier, and for many, wetter as well.

“The reason for the change – we lose the persistent area of high pressure.

“That will still be with us for Monday and Tuesday, [but] areas of low pressure will take over from the Atlantic, eventually dragging in Arctic air.”
