UFC 263: Leon Edwards puts vicious and bloody beating on Nate Diaz to tee up rematch with welterweight king Kamaru Usman

LEON EDWARDS booked his long-awaited crack at the welterweight title with a bloody victory over Nate Diaz - but he had to survive a late scare.

The pride of Birmingham locked horns with the fan favourite early this morning at UFC 263 in Glendale, Arizona.

The next crack at Kamaru Usman's welterweight throne was dangled in front of 'Rocky' just days before his clash with the youngest Diaz brother.

And he grabbed it with both hands by putting a clinic on against the former UFC lightweight title challenger.

Edwards went into his clash with Diaz confident of picking up his first TKO victory in over three years.

He recently told MMA Fighting: “I don’t have to go looking for him. He’s going to be right in front of you.

"He’s going to come forward. He’s going to give you his one [punch] to take your four and it’s going to be a great fight.

"Every time I go against guys like that, that like to stay on the feet and come forward, I pick them to pieces and slice them and dice them. It’s going to be a great fight.”
