One man and a teenager have been charged after an alleged attack in Dumbarton.

The incident happened on Castle Street around 1.20am on Sunday, September 12.

Two men, aged 57 and 58, were allegedly subjected to a ' serious assault ' as they walked along the street near to the Lidl car park.

Members of the public rushed to their aid and both men were rushed to Royal Alexandra Hospital in Paisley with facial injuries.

Two men, aged 58 and 18, have now been charged following the incident.

The pair are due to appear at Dumbarton Sheriff Court next month.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: "We can confirm that two men have been charged in connection with the serious assault of two men which happened in Dumbarton.

"The incident happened on Castle Street around 1.20am on Sunday, 12 September, 2021, when two men, aged 57 and 58, were assaulted as they walked along the street near to the Lidl car park.
