But Joe Joe Jims bar next door can carry on trading because it’s classed as Tier 2 in Worcestershire.
Maps show the county line falling directly between the two boozers.
Drinkers have been left baffled by the “crazy” restrictions.
A regular at the Old Hare and Hounds said: “We are a driveway apart from each other, but it’s like we are living in a different world.
“It seems to make no sense at all. How can it be safe to drink in one pub but not next door?
“No one here can get their head around it. It’s crazy.”
Another customer said: “It makes zero sense. We’re gutted for them. It must be so frustrating. It’s five metres — madness.”
The Old Hare and Hounds has been forced to dish out refunds for Christmas bookings.
The Ember Inns-owned pub told its customers on Facebook: “As you are all probably aware due to being placed into Tier 3 last week, we will unfortunately not be opening this Wednesday and will stay closed until current restrictions are lifted.
“Let us assure you all we are getting the pub ready and will open swiftly when allowed.”

Joe Joe Jims, which is technically in the village of Cofton Hackett, Worcs, can serve booze with substantial meals.
A customer there said: “We’re chuffed we can still go. But it just shows how mad this all is.
“We feel very sorry for The Old Hare and Hounds. It’s not fair.”
