Trump accuses Biden of making world more ‘violent and unstable’ amid Israel-Gaza violence

The former President issued his scathing assessment of Mr Biden through a statement published by his political action committee. After Israel raided the Al-Asaq mosque during Ramadan and attempted to evict Palestinian Muslims in Sheikh Jarrah, Hamas retaliated with rockets fired into Jerusalem.

Mr Trump blasted his successor for an alleged “weakness and lack of support for Israel” as Israeli forces destroyed a tower block in the Gaza Strip.

In his statement he praised his administration for striking the Abraham Accords between Israel, the United Arab Emirates and Bahrain.

Mr Trump said: “When I was in office we were known as the Peace Presidency, because Israel’s adversaries knew that the United States stood strongly with Israel and there would be swift retribution if Israel was attacked.”

He also said Mr Biden is overseeing a “more violent and more unstable” world.

Calling on Mr Biden’s administration to support Israel amid rocket attacks in Gaza, Mr Trump insisted America “must always stand with” their allies.

He said: “Under Biden, the world is getting more violent and more unstable because Biden’s weakness and lack of support for Israel is leading to new attacks on our allies.

“America must always stand with Israel and make clear that the Palestinians must end the violence, terror, and rocket attacks, and make clear that the U.S. will always strongly support Israel’s right to defend itself."

So far, Mr Biden has not commented on the violence in Gaza, but White House press secretary Jen Psaki has said the President has been briefed on the matter.

She said to reporters that officials have "spoken candidly" with Israeli leaders about concerns regarding the eviction of Palestinian families in east Jerusalem.

The secretary added: “The president's support for Israel's security, for its legitimate right to defend itself and its people is, fundamental and will never waiver.

“We condemn ongoing rocket attacks by Hamas and other terrorist groups, including against Jerusalem.

"We also condemn extremism that has inflicted violence on both communities.”

Yesterday saw one Israeli woman killed after more than 80 rockets were fired at Tel Aviv from the Gaza Strip on Tuesday night.

Hamas said it had fired the rockets in response to an Israeli air strike that had flattened a tower block earlier in the day.

Tensions began after Israeli forces raided the Al-Asaq mosque in the wake of Palestinian protests over planned Sheikh Jarrah evictions in the summer.

Hundreds of Palestinians were injured by Israeli forces in the protests and raids, which led to Hamas firing rockets at Jerusalem on Monday.

Israel then carried out an airstrike the same day, which killed more than 20 Palestinians including nine children.
