This could be the summer for Bundesliga strikers to pursue much-anticipated moves to the Premier League.

Erling Haaland is one of the hottest properties in European football right now, having scored a staggering 49 goals in just 51 games since arriving at Borussia Dortmund from Red Bull Salzburg in January 2020.

Along with Liverpool, the 20-year-old Norway sensation has been linked with other elite clubs - including arch rivals Manchester United - which has led to proposed transfer talks both here and in Spain.

United have, meanwhile, been tentatively linked with Eintracht Frankfurt's Andre Silva as an alternative option.

However, they are not the only two goalscoring options from the Bundesliga out there ahead of the summer transfer window.

Indeed, sitting behind those two and prolific Bayern Munich striker Robert Lewandowski in the German charts is yet another sought-after player in Germany's top division: Sasa Kalajdzic.

Standing at 6ft 7in, the 23-year-old targetman has been in breathtaking form since the end of January.

His overall tally of 14 goals in 27 games this term makes for impressive enough reading, but Kalajdzic has enjoyed a real purple patch during his last 10 Bundesliga outings, scoring nine goals.

Albeit in a losing cause, the Austrian even out-gunned Haaland when they went head to head at the weekend, scoring the opener as Dortmund's main man drew a rare blank at the other end in a 3-2 win for BVB.

You may even recognise two-goal Kalajdzic from the Austria side that drew 2-2 with Andrew Robertson's Scotland during their 2022 World Cup qualifier at Hampden Park last month.

In any case, his form is reported to have alerted the attention of Tottenham ahead of the summer window.

Indeed, it's thought that Spurs see the Austrian as an alternative option to star striker Harry Kane, with the England captain himself subject to high-profile transfer rumours since the latest international break.

According to the Daily Mail, the 23-year-old Stuttgart man has been identified as a target by Tottenham as the club now seem unlikely to take up their £36million option to buy on Benfica striker Carlos Vinicius, who has been on loan there since last summer but has scored only one goal in three Premier League starts so far.

Transfermarkt currently have Kalajdzic valued at £15.3m, while his existing Stuttgart contract expires at the end of the 2022/23 season.

However, as Spurs manager Jose Mourinho gears up to face competition from the likes of West Ham for his signature, the man in question has already expressed his preference ahead of a potential move: Liverpool.

Speaking to German publication Bild last month, Kalajdzic said: "I feel completely at home at VfB [Stuttgart], but it would be a really tough decision, because I really like Liverpool.

"This club is simply special to me. When I was a kid, I saw the Champions League final in 2005 when Liverpool came back from 3-0 down against Milan to win. That gripped me.

"The last time I went to a Liverpool game with my brother, I really kitted myself out; I bought myself a scarf, jersey, cap and a mug."
